The ICON Style Guide

Each year, PRSSA students gather to celebrate connections, leadership, community and professional development in PR, but what about the opportunity to do it in style? Corporate fashion is on the rise and ICON is the place to make your professional statement — with an outfit.

If first impressions are everything when meeting professionals and students from across the country, your outfits need to be ICON-ic. This style guide will elevate your corporate fashion and professional closet.

Ah, the office siren

This summer’s TikTok fashion leader, the office siren, has blended 90s nostalgia with corporate fashion, but its controversy leaves question for a more modest approach. To build a realistic office siren outfit, stick to its foundation.

Cloudy tones: Think of the steam from your morning coffee on the way to ICON, clouding the vibrant colors of summer corporate wear, and you’ve got the office siren rainbow.

Staple pieces: Being a resourceful professional means doing more with the limits you have — fashion is no different. Stick with basic staple pieces that you can recycle throughout ICON. Whether you’re dressing for a fashion PR panel with Runway 7’s Diane Vara or exploring your personal brand with Intern Queen, channel your inner office siren with these staples.

Thrift it out

The treasure hunt of thrifting can be a great option for styling on a budget. Just like our diversity panel will empower your unique identity, thrifting has one-of-a-kind pieces waiting to be given a second chance. Utilize these tips when thrifting with your ICON travel group and elevate your style through sustainability.

Basics are best: Watch for simple pieces that you can style up or down for panels and evening social events. Tees and buttons are excellent first-layer pieces that you can follow with thrifted vests, blazers, or sweaters. Take advantage of the vintage jewelry and belts among the thrifting treasures to express your diverse identity.

Is it California without Coachella?

Picture arriving at the welcome reception stacked with fun jewelry, patterns and dressed with an attitude to make new connections — that’s ICONCHELLA. Whether you play it chill with a graphic band tee, channel your coastal cowgirl or flare with fresh linens, ICONCHELLA is the chance to have fun with more than just your outfit. This is your fashion festival.

2024 or 2014?: The 2014 nostalgia has been resurfacing across TikTok with denims, lace and flower crowns. Style a graphic tee with washed blue jeans or pair a long skirt with a kimono and fun accessories to make ICONCHELLA a fashion statement.
