It’s Tuesday night and you’re surfing the Web. You hit up Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and other social media platforms. After a while, you realize that there’s probably something more productive that you could be doing with your time. You’re right. PRSSA National holds at least one Twitter chat every month and they are typically held on Tuesday evenings.
For those of you who do not know about this great resource, a Twitter chat is a simple way for members to connect with each other and at the same time, learn and discuss topics that are relevant to our industry. All members are invited to join.
How to Participate:
1. Log in to Twitter.
2. Go to Tweetchat.com when you’re ready to join the conversation.
3. Enter “PRSSA” in the search box at the top since that’s the hashtag we use.
4. The Twitter feed will pop up with all the #PRSSA tweets. You officially become part of the chat once you write your thoughts in the box at the top of the feed. Don’t worry about adding #PRSSA at the end — Tweetchat does it for you automatically.
If you can’t see the box, but can see the feed, click “sign in” at the top right corner and click “allow” to allow Tweetchat to connect to Twitter. Tweets will take a minute to show up once you click “tweet.”
Get ready:
This year’s first Twitter chat is Aug. 12 at 9 p.m. EDT. This month’s chat, “Advancing, Excelling and Exceeding: Leader Chapter Growth,” will be hosted by Vice President of Chapter Development Paige Weber. Come prepared to share all of your ideas and advice about recruitment and how you can encourage the members in your Chapter to get more involved.
You can see the full list of the fall 2014 Twitter chats here. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know and I’ll be happy to answer them.
Happy #Tweeting,
Ethan Parry
