California, New York, Detroit—March Regional Conference Preview

The beginning of the semester brought some great Regional Conferences in Alabama, Massachusetts and North Carolina, but we’re only a third of the way through the Conference lineup. California State University, Fullerton, is coming up March 11–12 in the heart of sunny Orange County, with speakers from various areas of public relations giving insights into The Next Generation of PR. The following weekend will be two different Conferences, one in the center of the public relations industry at Hofstra University in New York, and the other in up-and-coming Detroit, hosted by Wayne State University and Michigan State University. Still figuring out spring break plans? Maybe one of these Conferences should be included!

California State University, Fullerton, is excited to host a Regional Conference in beautiful Orange County, California. Our Conference is a two-day event where we dedicate our time to inspire and inform the next generation of public relations professionals. Learning from the past, working in the present and looking toward the future is what we want to achieve. We start our weekend with trips to local Orange County agencies such as Global Results Communications and Taco Bell. As a fun way to welcome our attendees, we invite them to cosmic bowling where they will have a chance to network with OC PRSA Young Professionals.

While on the topic of PRSA, Todd Cooley, who is currently a director on the National Board, will be our keynote speaker. We are lucky to have him. #NextGenPR has great sessions, which include topics like food, entertainment, skills for a 21st century public relations professional and diversity in the industry. To thank our attendees for participating, we have a special giveaway at the end of the Conference. Let’s just say, Orange County may be the happiest place on earth. Visit us at www.prssanextgen.com.

“Start spreading the news/I’m leaving today/I want to be a part of it/New York, New York.”

New York City is the media capital of the world — it’s the center of both media and the public relations profession. Hofstra University’s Regional Conference, “Start Spreading the News!,” will provide attendees with an inside look at what it’s like to be a public relations professional in the Big Apple. This two-day Conference will begin on Friday, March 18, with an optional trip to the Museum of Public Relations located in Manhattan followed by an evening networking mixer with Hofstra alumni. On Saturday, March 19, attendees will hear from a variety of professionals during workshops and panels on topics including entertainment, fashion, diversity, nonprofit and corporate social responsibility, food and hospitality, technology, international public relations, and journalism and media relations. Saturday’s events also will include an afternoon networking lunch where attendees can meet and mingle with industry professionals. “Start Spreading the News!” is the perfect opportunity to learn about all that New York City has to offer rising public relations professionals. Detroit is back and in a big way! The Michigan State and Wayne State University Chapters of PRSSA are thrilled to co-host the Conference, “The Tale of Our City: PR’s Role in Detroit’s Revitalization.” This Conference is designed to showcase the role public relations has played in reshaping the Detroit story. The Conference kicks off on Friday, March 18, with a mixer for attendees at Punch Bowl Social in the heart of Downtown Detroit. Saturday, March 19, will bring a full day of programming, networking and resources. Expert panelists and Detroit enthusiasts will share with attendees how the city has developed in recent years and how the public relations industry has evolved along with it. In particular, they will explore crisis communications, diversity, branding, storytelling and everything in between, all the while experiencing the city and all it has to offer. The weekend also will include an internship and resource fair and plenty of Detroit-themed goodies. Although we’re (obviously) Detroit proud, we welcome attendees from all over to come and learn more about how the public relations industry can impact a brand, a story and a city.
