The University of South Carolina Chapter of PRSSA is excited to announce the 2022 Southeast District Conference: Eyes on the PRize. Taking place Feb. 25–26 at the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, the hybrid event will include an online attendance option for attendees who can’t make it in person.

The theme for this year’s Conference focuses on three different sections of the public relations industry:  financial, nonprofit, and government. Those three sections were chosen to represent the quickly growing PR industry while incorporating relevant professionals in our capital city and surrounding areas. Attendees can expect an exciting educational experience involving speakers from South Carolina and beyond.

At our Friday night opening ceremony, attendees will have the opportunity to meet, mingle and network with peers from different universities, hear from the University of South Carolina faculty, and catch a front-row seat to a special performance from musician and UofSC PRSSA Vice President of Membership Mia Green.

We are especially excited to announce our three keynote speakers: Amanda Finney, Trent Flood, APR and Antjuan Seawright.

Finney serves as Chief of Staff for the White House Press Office and Special Assistant to the White House Press Secretary. She will share with us her unique journey to the nation’s capital, her insight on public affairs and tips on navigating the field as a young professional.

Trent Flood, APR, a public relations professional with over 20 years of media relations, crisis and internal communications experience, will join us to talk all things financial public relations and crisis communications. In his current role as Senior Vice President, Communications Executive at Bank of America in Charlotte, North Carolina, Flood manages strategic planning and response activities related to crisis communications for the company.

Antjuan Seawright, a South Carolina native and nationally recognized political commentator, has been involved in government relations and political strategy since the start of his career. Now, he serves as a Senior Advisor to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and is the founder and CEO of his own public relations, advertising and political strategy firm, Blueprint Strategy LLC.

We encourage attendees to come prepared to ask our keynote speakers questions, engage and discuss in our focused breakout sessions, and mingle with their peers. To make the most of your time at Eyes on the PRize, we encourage you to introduce yourself to as many new faces as you feel comfortable with!

Guests are also encouraged to follow our social media @uofsc_prssa and check out uofscprssa.org/conference to stay updated on the latest news.

We can’t wait to showcase our university’s talented students, staff, and state-of-the-art facilities along with our exciting lineup of speakers. See you there!
