Podcasts have been rising in popularity for years now and celebrities are hopping on the trend. Actors are switching to the role of the viewers by hosting their own podcasts as they rewatch their shows episode by episode. Others use their podcasts to interview fellow cast and crew members about their time on the show and their current projects. These podcasts serve as a great way for viewers to relive their favorite shows while learning more about the production, actors, and insider details. Here are some podcasts to check out based on your TV shows of choice:
“Office Ladies”, which premiered in 2019, is a podcast hosted by The Office stars Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin). Jenna and Angela rewatch each episode of The Office and create a corresponding podcast as they reminisce, laugh, and share behind-the-scenes stories. The most recent podcast episode tackled “Employee Transfer” which is Episode 5×06 of The Office.
Since you can never have too much of The Office, here is yet another podcast hosted by a cast member! Brian Baumgartner, who played Kevin Malone, hosts “The Office Deep Dive” in which he interviews co-stars and crew to talk about all things Dunder Mifflin. “Office Ladies” and “The Office Deep Dive” complement each other perfectly so be sure to listen to both if you want to be an expert on The Office.
Scott Patterson, AKA dreamy diner owner Luke Danes, is giving us all the tea on Gilmore Girls through his new podcast “I’m All In”. Patterson had never watched the show until the start of the podcast so listeners will get his candid reactions as he goes episode by episode. Patterson also has one-on-one interview episodes; you can hear interviews with Scott Cohen (Max Medina) and Keiko Agena (Lane Kim) so far with more anticipated episodes on the way. If you’re missing the welcoming community of Stars Hollow, you’ll want to listen to this one.
“Directionally Challenged” is a bit different from the others on the list as it isn’t primarily about The Vampire Diaries even though it is hosted by Candice King (Caroline Forbes) and Kayla Ewell (Vicki Donovan). This podcast is all-encompassing as Candice and Kayla interview authors, therapists, actors, spiritual leaders, journalists, teachers, and more. “Directionally Challenged” is meant to guide those who are feeling stuck and looking to propel forward. While you can learn a lot about life from the podcast, there is still a lot to learn about The Vampire Diaries as well. Candice and Kayla frequently reference their time on the show and have special episodes featuring co-stars such as Nina Dobrev (Elena Gilbert), Paul Wesley (Stefan Salvatore), Michael Trevino (Tyler Lockwood), Claire Holt (Rebekah Mikaelson), and Phoebe Tonkin (Hayley Marshall). If you’re looking for a self-help podcast that also brings you back to Mystic Falls, this is a great choice.
“Drama Queens” is already topping the podcast charts even though it just premiered on June 21, 2021. This iconic podcast is hosted by the wonderful ladies of One Tree Hill: Bethany Joy Lenz (Haley James Scott), Sophia Bush (Brooke Davis), and Hilarie Burton Morgan (Peyton Sawyer). The trio is diving back into Tree Hill as they watch episode by episode and share laughs, cringe-worthy moments, and insider information. If you loved One Tree Hill, you will love this nostalgic podcast about the ups and downs of Tree Hill drama.
Sophia Bush also hosts a podcast called “Work In Progress” in which she interviews key political figures, high-brow professionals, famous authors, and more. While this podcast is outside of the OTH realm, it is extremely insightful and allows the opportunity to know Sophia Bush as an activist rather than an actress.
All of these podcasts are available on Apple Music and Spotify. If you’re like me, you are always looking for new ways to engage with your favorite shows. I hope you enjoy the podcasts! Which show would YOU like to see a podcast for?
