Connecting Your Chapter and Alumni

Whether your Chapter has been around for five years or 50, it is important for Chapters to connect with their alumni. Alumni offer valuable advice and have ties to your university as well as want to give back. Here are some ways to help get your alumni involved that Belmont PRSSA uses.

  1. Alumni Spotlight Series: Since we started this monthly event on our campus last year, we have had the opportunity to hear from alumni who now work in various industries and companies.
  2. Mentors: Even if your Chapter does not have a mentorship program, these alum offer priceless advice for current Chapter members, whether the advice is about being on the executive board or active in your Chapter, or professional advice.

For some alumni such as Carrie Chalker from the Belmont University class of 2013, giving back is important.

“Mainly, I just think about all of the opportunities I looked for in college to be able to network and dive into my career. PRSSA helped give me those, and being able to now turn around and help in any way I can those students who are in my former shoes … I love it!”

For seniors nearing graduation, I have two questions for you:

  1. How are you going to get in touch with your PRSSA alumni to help your Chapter this year?
  2. How do you plan on giving back to your Chapter once you graduate?
