Help Leave Our Mark on Philadelphia

With a few short weeks until National Conference, there are a lot of things to prepare. Your list is probably topped with cleaning up your résumé, compiling a wardrobe and mapping out your touring schedule. But before descending upon Philadelphia, you and your Chapter should prepare for the PRSSA 2013 Community Service Initiative.

CW-Logo-With-TagWhat is it?
This year we are partnering with the local PRSA Philly Chapter to host an accessory donation drive benefitting Career Wardrobe, the nation’s largest independent nonprofit of its kind. Career Wardrobe empowers women in transition by providing professional work attire, educational programs and networking opportunities.

How can I help?
Helping is simple — just pack the following items in your suitcase and bring them with you to Philadelphia. There will be a collection bin at the registration table for you to drop off your donations.

  • Shoes (gently-worn and in good condition)
  • Handbags (gently-used and in good condition)
  • Jewelry of all types
  • Scarves
  • Belts
  • Stockings/Hosiery (must be new)
  • Make-Up (must be new)

How can my Chapter help?
Host a Chapter accessory drive the meeting prior to Conference. Since the donation items are small in nature, members attending Conference should be able to divide the Chapter donations among their luggage. Pack as many donations as you can in your suitcase and bring them to Philly.

What if I’m not a woman?
Men can help, too! Reach out to your girlfriends and ask for gently-used shoes, scarves and jewelry that they have not used in a while. Send a few tweets and gather donations from your friends. (The ladies love a guy who does community service.)

The more items we collect, the larger impact we can make as a Society. Do your part and help PRSSA leave its mark on Philadelphia!
