PRSSA’s National Initiatives: Participate and Apply for Star Chapter

[hr] All Chapters and members are encourage to participate in PRSSA’s National Initiatives as we continuously strive to accomplish more as a Society each year. There are plenty of ways to engage by becoming involved on the National level. Implement just a few of these Initiatives and your Chapter may be on the way to achieving Star Chapter status. Take a look at just a few of PRSSA’s National Initiatives to learn how to become more involved. 

 

Participate in the Day-of Competition

The Day-of Competition at National Assembly allows for an opportunity to build your portfolio and network by practicing public relations skills in a fun, fast-paced, competitive environment. Gain hands-on case study experience and work in a team of other PRSSA National Assembly attendees to plan a mini-campaign.


Submit Entries to the FUNdraising Bowl

An annual PRSSA campaign, the FUNdraising Bowl encourages Chapters to share fundraising ideas and compete for two free National Conference registrations. Each year, best practices are compiled to serve as a resource for Chapters seeking fundraising ideas.


Compete in the Bateman Case Study Competition

As PRSSA’s premier national case study competition, the Bateman Competition gives members the opportunity to apply classroom knowledge and internship experience to create a full public relations campaign. Be sure to check out the 2013 Campaign to learn how to get started and submit your intent-to-enter form by the deadline of Nov. 2.

 

Apply for scholarships and awards

PRSSA can enhance and help fund your education experience through many scholarships and awards. More than $20,000 in scholarships and awards are presented to outstanding members and Chapters each year. There are numerous opportunities for individual scholarships, Chapter awards, leadership recognition and case study competitions. Get a head start now and apply for the Gary Yoshimura Scholarship by Jan. 28 for a chance to win $2,400.


Start a student-run firm or apply for National Affiliation for your firm

Student-run firms allow for an opportunity to work with real clients and develop campaigns. Participating in a student-run firm is a great way to apply public relations knowledge and gain hands-on experience. Be sure to utilize the Student-Run Firm Handbook to start or improve your Firm.

 

By implementing several of the many National Initiatives, your Chapter may be eligible to apply for the Star Chapter Award. Chapters of any size can achieve this distinctive award by meeting eight of ten Chapter and professional development goals and requirements.
