From Insight to Inspiration—Lessons Learned at the FINN Partners for Diversity: The Internship Preview

When I walked into the FINN Partners for Diversity: The Internship Preview, I didn’t fully know what to expect. What I did know was that I was about to enter a space dedicated to fostering inclusivity and creating pathways for diverse voices in the public relations industry. From the moment the program began, I was met with encouragement, wisdom and a genuine passion for shaping the future of PR.

One of the highlights of the experience was a workshop on storytelling in public relations. As someone who has always been the storyteller in my family, I found this session especially exciting. The speakers emphasized the power of authentic narratives and the importance of amplifying voices that often go unheard. This message resonated deeply with me, as I’ve always believed that impactful storytelling can bridge gaps and spark meaningful connections.

Another meaningful aspect of the program was my connection with my mentor, who played a pivotal role in shaping my experience. She shared not only her professional expertise but also personal insights about navigating the PR industry as a young professional. Her guidance on balancing creativity with strategy and her encouragement to embrace my unique perspective left a lasting impression on me. Having someone who genuinely believed in my potential made this experience even more transformative.

The program also offered incredible opportunities to network with professionals who were open about their journeys and eager to share advice. One conversation that stood out to me was with a senior partner who explained how embracing her unique perspective as a first-generation college graduate helped her thrive in PR. Her story reminded me that diversity isn’t just about representation; it’s about celebrating the distinct experiences and viewpoints we each bring to the table.

Beyond the sessions and networking, I gained practical insights into what it takes to build a successful career in public relations. From crafting compelling campaigns to navigating the challenges of crisis communication, the program covered it all. I left feeling more confident and better equipped to take the next steps in my journey.

For any student considering a career in PR, I can’t recommend this program enough. FINN Partners not only provided valuable industry knowledge but also created an inclusive space where everyone’s voice felt heard and valued. The experience reinforced my belief that diversity is a strength, and it made me excited to contribute to an industry that’s actively evolving.

Whether you’re looking to learn more about public relations, connect with inspiring professionals or gain a clearer vision of your future career, the FINN Partners for Diversity: The Internship Preview is an incredible opportunity. Take that leap—you won’t regret it.
