Experience Pittsburgh sports from the perspective of public relations professionals at Waynesburg University’s 2022 District Conference titled, Making the Final Cut: A Strategic Communications Plan for Sports Public Relations

It’s not every day that you see an entirely sports-themed public relations conference. Our small but mighty PRSSA Chapter is uniquely placed in a department that is extremely sports-heavy. Students majoring in sports broadcasting and sports information often have the opportunity to travel and work professional sporting events such as the Steelers’ games at Heinz Field or experience the minor leagues with the Washington Wild Things. This puts Waynesburg University in a unique position where public relations and sports information majors often work together and learn from one another.

We want to take this as an opportunity to further reunite the worlds of public relations and sports communication. Our Conference will feature key guest speakers such as former voice of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Lanny Frattare, former vice president of communications for the Pittsburgh Penguins, Tom McMillan, social media content creator for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Creg Milko, president of the President’s Athletic Conference, Joe Onderko and more. It’s a line-up that is sure to excite!

Mark your calendars for March 25 and 26. Our Conference will be taking place virtually on Zoom so that you can join from the comfort of your home or dorm. The cost is $15 per person and registration is open now. Head over to https://www.wuprssa.com/district-conference-2022 to register.

Networking sessions will be open between sessions so that students and professionals can connect and mingle. Plans for a service initiative are also in the works and we hope to inspire fellow members and PRSSA Chapters to take initiative and give back to their communities. Don’t worry, this will be something inclusive for all so that Chapters or individuals can opt to participate on their own time.

Waynesburg University PRSSA has been working hard to ensure that this Conference will be one-of-a-kind and well worth your time. For your sake as well as our own, we hope we knock this one out of the park.
