How did you arrive at your conference theme and what can members expect to see at this conference?

The Hofstra PRSSA 2022 District Conference, “Roadmap to Success,” will take place on April 22–23. While the past year has been rocky in several ways, this conference will show attendees how to navigate through the current public relations landscape. Members can expect to spend time both in the city and at Hofstra, attending a variety of panels and networking opportunities with professionals.

Is your conference virtual or in person? If it’s virtual, what are some of the platforms being used?

Our conference will be held in-person. On Friday, events are scheduled in New York City, while Saturday’s panels will be held on campus at Hofstra University between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. Due to university policy, all ticket holders must be fully vaccinated and boosted. Attendees are encouraged to find overnight accommodation near Hofstra’s campus.

Tell me about the speaker/session that excites you the most. Why should members tune in for this?

Hofstra’s PRSSA Chapter is thrilled to be welcoming Joe Carozza to campus on Saturday, April 23. Joe Carozza is the executive vice president of media & artist relations at Republic Records and is a graduate of Hofstra. A notable professional in the industry, he will be our conference’s keynote speaker and we are very excited to have him on board. Members should tune in to hear the guidance and industry knowledge that he has gained working in such a prominent role.

Do you have any planned networking events? How will your conference allow members to connect?

Members will be able to network on both days of the conference. On Friday evening, April 22, a networking mixer event will be held in the city. On Saturday, between panels and during designated breaks, there will be opportunities to connect with professionals, exchange contact information and connect on platforms such as LinkedIn. Attendees will be encouraged to connect with each other throughout the two days, as these fellow members may one day be future colleagues!

How can members make the most of their conference experience?

Members should be attentive as to what makes the professionals successful in their career and what their journeys have been. Members should also try to connect to professionals or peers that have similar interests or career goals. On Saturday, we will have a resumé critique for direct attendee feedback. This will be a great opportunity to network and gain career advice!
