The University of South Carolina’s PRSSA Chapter is excited to host our 2023 District Conference: “Explore. Experience. Engage.” The conference will be in person from Feb. 24–25,2023 on the campus of the University of South Carolina in Columbia, SC.
“Explore. Experience. Engage.” is centered around travel and tourism public relations, and will include speakers who will share their experiences working for airlines, airports, hotels, and restaurants as well as marketing a destination or being a travel influencer. These areas of public relations were chosen due to the constant need for public relations professionals in the travel and tourism market, as well as the importance of public relations in these areas during the post-pandemic era. Tourism is also one of the largest industries in South Carolina.
At Friday’s opening event, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the USC School of Journalism and Mass Communications and to learn about our graduate programs in strategic communications and multimedia journalism. They will also have the opportunity to network with members of South Carolina PRSA and will hear from the PRSSA National Vice President of Member Services, Lauren Casole, about the opportunities within PRSSA. Our hospitality team will connect you with local restaurants and other fun activities around Columbia on Friday night.
Saturday will be a full day of keynotes, breakouts, and panels, ending with a social event after our closing ceremony. We are very excited to announce one of our keynote speakers: Gina Laughlin and other members of the Delta communications team. After hearing this group speak at the PRSSA 2022 International Conference, we were inspired and wanted to learn more. Additional information on our other speakers is coming soon. Keep an eye on our website for the full agenda.
We encourage attendees to ask questions, participate in breakouts, and network with peers at our conference. We will be creating a virtual message platform so that attendees can connect both during and after the conference. We expect this to be a valuable experience for our attendees and encourage everyone to interact with peers and professionals.
Registration is priced at $50. To learn more about registration, visit our website. Be sure to follow us on Instagram as well at @uofsc_prssa. If you have any questions, please email Julia Phillips at jrp10@email.sc.edu.
We look forward to seeing you all at our conference!
