The Ohio State University Chapter of PRSSA is happy to announce that we are hosting the 2023 East Central District Conference: PR Pioneers.
The conference will take place on Feb. 17 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EST at the Fawcett Center on OSU’s campus. Those that cannot attend the Conference in person will have virtual access to watch the speakers.
We chose this conference theme so that our attendees can explore the people, strategies, and workplace cultures that are pioneering the public relations field. We also want to explore where the PR industry is heading, especially in Columbus. Conference attendees can expect to learn more about key industries in Columbus including sports, fashion, and healthcare. Those who attend will have an opportunity to network with students, local professionals, and PRSSA members.
I’m most excited for our session with OSU student athletes and representatives from the Name Image and Likeness department. This is the first year that OSU student athletes are allowed to sell their likeness, so I’m excited to learn what this process has been like (and to meet some top student athletes). I’m particularly curious to learn how student athletes manage their personal brand, Ohio State’s brand, and the brand of companies with which they partner.
We’re so excited to welcome out-of-town attendees to Columbus. This city is so rich in culture, art, and industries. PR thrives here, which is why we’re highlighting some of the top local brands at our conference. We encourage attendees to explore the city while they’re in town. Venturing just north of Ohio State’s campus will put you in the Short North, one of the most culturally rich parts of Columbus. The Short North is home to dozens of boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and art galleries. I highly recommend checking it out while you’re in Columbus.
Want to join the PR Pioneers conversation? We encourage attendees to join our LinkedIn event page to network with fellow attendees and see who’s attending the conference. As we announce our speakers, we suggest researching their backgrounds and planning some questions.
We’re planning a networking event to take place following the conference. There will be more details to come, but we’re looking forward to continuing discussions from the conference and helping our attendees make key connections. Keep an eye on our Instagram, @ohiostateprssa, for conference updates, speaker announcements, and more information.
Ready to meet some pioneers from the world of Columbus PR? Registration is now available through eventbrite. For more information, email ohiostateprssa@gmail.com.
