While attending the events in Boston and Chicago as the official delegate from the National Committee, I\u2019m grateful to have taken part in conversations about covering, bringing your most authentic self to work, and educating people of color and allies on how to navigate challenges in the workplace.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seeking to share, educate, and celebrate black public relations leaders both past and present this Black History Month, PRSSA produced content focused on being <\/span><b>#PRoud<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and what that means. Keynote speakers <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/judithharrison\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Judith Harrison<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Senior Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/weber-shandwick\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Weber Shandwick<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/hcshelton\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Helen Shelton<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Senior Partner at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/company\/finn-partners\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finn Partners<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, shared experiences leading to their success and how they\u2019ve helped pave the way for women of color in the industry.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Although not a person of color, I grew up in a military family and lost my mom to breast cancer in high school. Through my own experiences, I\u2019ve grown to understand the importance of listening, empathy, and accessibility. For me, being <\/span><b>#PRoud<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is embracing who you are, where you come from, and what it means to be you.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Celebrating the accolades of people of color, women, and marginalized populations helps to empower and inspire the next generation of public relations professionals.
