The Society currently has three international Chapters \u2014 Argentina, Colombia and Peru. Each was asked to give a brief summary of what public relations is like in their country and a little bit about their Chapter. I hope that through reading each one you take away a small snippet of what international public relations can look like.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Colombia \u2014 Chapter president <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ingrid-londo%C3%B1o-holgu%C3%ADn-368996100\/\"><strong>Ingrid London\u00f1o Holguin<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Las organizaciones colombianas est\u00e1n empezando a entender la importancia de gestionar la comunicaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica y las relaciones p\u00fablicas. Sin embargo, la profesi\u00f3n a\u00fan no es muy conocida en el pa\u00eds. Las agencias que trabajan en el \u00e1rea de las RRPP son reconocidas por sus servicios en asesor\u00edas de comunicaci\u00f3n estrat\u00e9gica.<\/em><br \/>\n<em> Nosotros contamos con 25 miembros en nuestro Cap\u00edtulo y nuestro prop\u00f3sito principal es consolidar un grupo s\u00f3lito con integrantes felices, que tengan la oportunidad de practicar las RRPP y la comunicaci\u00f3n mientras aprenden y a la vez disfrutan de ser parte de nuestra familia PRSSA.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>TRANSLATION<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cColombian organizations are just starting to understand the importance of communication and public relations. Nevertheless, the profession is not well known in the country yet. Agencies that work with PR,\u00a0 are outstanding for their services in strategic communication assessments. We have 25 members in our Chapter and our main goal is to consolidate a solid group with happy members that can have the chance to practice PR and communication while they are learning and enjoying to be part of our PRSSA family.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>Peru \u2014 Chapter president <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/paola-valdez-lovera-52972ab4\/\"><strong>Paola Valdez Lovera<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>En Per\u00fa, las Relaciones P\u00fablicas es una profesi\u00f3n que poco a poco se est\u00e1 haciendo conocida. Las organizaciones han empezado a darle importancia a la comunicaci\u00f3n que deben tener con sus p\u00fablicos y a la creaci\u00f3n de estrategias para llegar a ellos. Sin embargo, algunas veces, no conocen de este proceso como \u2018Relaciones P\u00fablicas\u2019.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Por otro lado, debido a que m\u00e1s personas est\u00e1n estudiando la especialidad, m\u00e1s compa\u00f1\u00edas practican las relaciones p\u00fablicas y hay m\u00e1s organizaciones nacionales que la respaldan. De esta manera, se puede deducir que esta especialidad se volver\u00e1 m\u00e1s importante y esencial en todas las organizaciones.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>En el Cap\u00edtulo de Estudiantes PRSSA de la Universidad de San Mart\u00edn de Porres, Per\u00fa, hay 70 miembros que est\u00e1n aprendiendo de relaciones p\u00fablicas y comunicaciones. Con la oportunidad de aplicar en el Cap\u00edtulo toda la teor\u00eda aprendida en clase.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Como cap\u00edtulo PRSSA, queremos ser un referente en el campo de las relaciones p\u00fablicas en nuestro pa\u00eds. Adem\u00e1s, queremos crear una buena reputaci\u00f3n entre otros cap\u00edtulos y esperamos tener apariciones en los medios como una organizaci\u00f3n responsable de promover las relaciones p\u00fablicas entre estudiantes de nuestro pa\u00eds.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>TRANSLATION<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn Peru, public relations is a profession that is becoming known little by little. Organizations have begun to give importance to the communication they must have with their audiences and creating strategies to reach them. However, many times they do not know this process with the name of &#8220;public relations&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, because more people are studying this career, more companies apply public relations and there are more national organizations that support it. It can be deduced that they will become more important and essential among all organizations.<\/p>\n<p>At the Universidad de San Mart\u00edn de Porres Chapter of PRSSA, there are 78 members that are learning more about public relations and communications. Also, they can apply everything they learn in the classes.<\/p>\n<p>As a Chapter of PRSSA, we want to be a benchmark in the field of the public relations in our country. Furthermore, we want to create a good reputation among other Chapters. In addition, we hope to have appearances in the media as an organization that is responsible for promoting public relations among students in our country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Argentina \u2014 Chapter president <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/facundo-luque-4a8ba3119\/\"><strong>Facundo Luque<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Hoy en d\u00eda existen m\u00e1s de 300 agencias de Relaciones P\u00fablicas, tanto grandes como medianas, que proporcionan servicios de consultor\u00eda a empresas, ONGs y organizaciones p\u00fablicas. En Argentina, las Relaciones P\u00fablicas se dictan a nivel universitario y hay 17 universidades donde se puede estudiar la licenciatura.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Nuestro Faculty Adviser, Mariano Iovine, dice: &#8220;Las Relaciones P\u00fablicas tienen una gran trayectoria profesional en nuestro pa\u00eds, han pasado casi 70 a\u00f1os desde que comenzamos a explorar el camino de la profesi\u00f3n. Hoy podemos decir que estamos en una momento de madurez y, con un gran futuro, expectativas y perspectivas de crecimiento\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Las Relaciones P\u00fablicas en Argentina, est\u00e1n creciendo en los negocios, pero la mayor\u00eda de la gente a\u00fan no comprende lo que hace un especialista en Relaciones P\u00fablicas. Mucha gente ha escuchado el nombre \u201cPR\u201d y otros no. Aquellos que lo escucharon, a menudo asocian esto con personas que manejan las entradas en las fiestas y que en realidad no tienen los estudios en la disciplina. Otras personas, lo sobreestiman, y en lugar de tomar una licenciatura, toman cursos cortos de Relaciones P\u00fablicas, pensando que solamente con eso, ya pueden ejercer en algunos trabajos. Al mismo tiempo, se considera una carrera &#8220;f\u00e1cil&#8221; porque pertenece a los estudios de comunicaci\u00f3n.\u00a0 Sin embargo, las<\/em> <em>personas que estudian esto o aquellos que realmente saben acerca de la licenciatura, est\u00e1n involucrados en un trabajo en el extranjero y ven perspectivas de crecimiento en Argentina.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>TRANSLATION<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNowadays there are more than 300 large and medium public relations agencies, which provide<\/p>\n<p>consulting services to companies, NGOs and public organizations. PR is dictated at university-level<\/p>\n<p>and there are 17 universities [in Argentina] where you can study [for] this bachelor\u2019s degree.<\/p>\n<p>Our Faculty Adviser, Mariano Iovine, says \u201cPublic relations has a large professional trajectory in our country, it has been almost 70 years since we began to explore the path of the profession. Today we can say that we are in a moment of maturity with a great future, expectations and growth prospects.<\/p>\n<p>In Argentina, public relations is growing in business but most of the people still do not understand what a public relations specialist does. A lot of people have heard the name PR and others have not. Those who listened about it often associate this with people who handle the tickets in the parties and who do not really have the studies in the discipline. Other people overestimate it or instead of taking a bachelor&#8217;s degree, they take short courses of PR thinking they can already exercise in some jobs. It is also considered an &#8220;easy&#8221; career because it belongs to communication studies.
