This will also make you stand out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Complement\/recognize the professional.<\/li>\n<li>Make sure your social media is up to date and professional.\n<ul>\n<li>College students hear it all the time but if you don\u2019t want your grandma seeing it on social media make sure it\u2019s not there! Also make sure that your social media (especially LinkedIn) is up to date with your current positions. This helps professionals get to know who you are.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>DON\u2019T:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Be impatient.\n<ul>\n<li>Following up is great if you have a specific question but always wait at least a week to follow up and don\u2019t follow up more than twice if you have never met this person.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ask for a job through someone\u2019s DMs.\n<ul>\n<li>Don\u2019t ask for a job first, either.
