{"id":7078,"date":"2016-06-22T08:00:54","date_gmt":"2016-06-22T12:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/progressions.prsa.org\/?p=7078"},"modified":"2018-08-09T12:52:02","modified_gmt":"2018-08-09T16:52:02","slug":"5-takeaways-2016-leadership-rally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/progressions.prsa.org\/index.php\/2016\/06\/22\/5-takeaways-2016-leadership-rally\/","title":{"rendered":"5 Takeaways From the PRSSA 2016 Leadership Rally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After a long journey from Lima, Peru to Phoenix, Arizona, I had the opportunity to attend the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/prssa.prsa.org\/events\/Rally\/\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRSSA 2016 Leadership Rally<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Below are five takeaways from this year\u2019s Leadership Rally.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Encourage your members to endorse the mission and vision of the organization<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As leaders, we always want our members to feel the same enthusiasm and love for the organization as we do. By including our members in Chapter initiatives, we can lighten our load and give members a chance to be more involved. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Celebrate successes with your team<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a Chapter member accomplishes something, such as winning an award or finishing a project, we should celebrate those successes as a Chapter. By doing this, we encourage members to always do their best work, helping our Chapter and individual members to grow personally and professionally. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Always bring your business cards.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a public relations and communications student, you should know to always bring your business cards, especially to PRSSA events. Business cards are an essential tool to broaden your network and connect with fellow members.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Attend national events. <\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I learned a lot at Leadership Rally and encourage all members to attend national events. The<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/prssa.prsa.org\/events\/Conference\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRSSA 2016 National Conference<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a great opportunity to learn more about public relations, expand your networking with a larger number of PRSSA and PRSA members and share the achievements of your Chapter\u00a0with other students.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">C\u00e9sar Zapata attends Universidad de San Mart\u00edn de Porres School of Communication Sciences in Lima, Peru.
