While I was growing up, Pittsburgh was still recovering from a regional depression. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over the past decade, however, the city has made a serious comeback. In recent years, we\u2019ve been named America\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.nextpittsburgh.com\/business-tech-news\/economist-names-pittsburgh-livable-city\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most livable<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.forbes.com\/pictures\/mhj45hkhe\/11-pittsburgh-pa\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">most affordable<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> city, among many other honors. Perhaps one of Pittsburgh\u2019s strongest points though is its cultural diversity. We\u2019re often referred to as the \u201cMelting Pot\u201d and we\u2019re not afraid to express it. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I\u2019m thankful to be in the middle of the action. I live 10 minutes from downtown and my agency is headquartered on the east side of the city. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are the main industries in the Pittsburgh market (all of which have contributed to our revival): <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tech \u2014 <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.networkworld.com\/article\/2687961\/careers\/pittsburgh-is-a-vibrant-ecosystem-for-high-tech-companies.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to Network World<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cPittsburgh is nurturing and growing a new generation of technology innovators.\u201d The tech scene in Pittsburgh is substantial, especially as Uber and Carnegie Mellon University continue to <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roadandtrack.com\/new-cars\/car-technology\/news\/a25781\/uber-is-testing-autonomous-car-tech-in-pittsburgh\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">test autonomous cars<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> on city streets. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Restaurants and Retail \u2014 Pittsburgh\u2019s restaurant scene is home to countless nationally awarded restaurants. We\u2019re now also home to more craft breweries and micro roasteries than you can count on both hands. There is also a retail renaissance going on in and around the city. The area\u2019s first Nordstrom, Tory Burch, Omega, Michael Kors, L.L Bean, Louis Vuitton and other luxury destinations have set up shop within recent years. Northway Mall\u2014Pennsylvania\u2019s first indoor mall\u2014is also currently <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tophat-imc.com\/pittsburgh-branding-talk-northway-mall-undergoes-inspiring-rebrand\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">undergoing a massive transformation<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Real Estate \u2014 Both local and national developers are converting old buildings into attractive destinations all over town. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Healthcare \u2014 One of the largest industries in the Greater Pittsburgh area is healthcare. The strong roots of University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) and Highmark have created an abundance of jobs. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sports \u2014 The Steelers, Penguins and Pirates are the city\u2019s black-and-gold lifeblood. <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Startups \u2014 Pittsburgh is startup friendly. Office space is affordable and new business opportunities are abundant. This has been fertile soil to help grow my agency, along with countless other startups in the area.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Pittsburgh is New Pro Friendly<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only are the opportunities nearly endless for young professionals, but the cost of living is very affordable. There are plenty of hip neighborhoods that will quickly welcome you with open arms\u2014Shadyside, Squirrel Hill and Lawrenceville are just a few. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The industries mentioned above yield an abundance of communication positions, especially in tech and healthcare. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/prsa-pgh.org\/classifieds.php?type=job\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">PRSA Pittsburgh\u2019s Career Center<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a great place to start looking for jobs and internships. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re looking to get connected, PRSA Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Young Professionals\u2014one of the oldest Young Professionals organization in the country<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">are great places to start. These groups are active and accepting of new members. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether it\u2019s craft beer, festivals or helping others, there are countless organizations to get involved with in Pittsburgh. In each, you\u2019ll make fast friends and interact with the city in a unique way. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you need any more local insight on the city, let me know.
