Megan, Madison and Kelly educated the audience on various opportunities for Chapters to host programming with limited resources. The presentation covered topics such as creative fundraising, motivating members and leveraging professional networks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In order to develop creative fundraising, Drake University suggested that Chapters think creatively by differentiating themselves, targeting alumni by reaching out through social media, alumni offices and their sponsor PRSA Chapter and cutting through the noise. To motivate members, one presenter said \u201cthe biggest success we have is word of mouth from current members.\u201d Some suggested events including a crisis simulation, media pitching and community partnerships. Leveraging professional networks is something Drake PRSSA does by creating a Facebook group, hosting a public relations week and hosting a Regional Conference.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Takeaways:<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you can expand your donor base, you\u2019ll expand your pocketbook.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hosting active meetings means more active members in your Chapter.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Think beyond food. Member punch cards can lead to private networking events after attending a certain number of meetings.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Building the buzz for your organization helps to network across boundaries.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2014<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Gentry Bennett is a junior at Ohio University.
