But there’s one thing that we love more — social media. A Twitter chat combines both because it allows you to build your network, engage in conversation and (most importantly) have fun. To participate you don’t even have to leave the comfort of your dorm room or change out of your pajamas.

PRSSA will host its first Twitter chat as we kick-off the academic year with Diversity Month. For those who are new to the Twitter chat scene, it’s a way for members from all across the nation to connect at the same time while discussing topics relevant to our industry. It’s for everyone, it’s free and it’s an opportunity to digitally meet new professionals like yourself.

How to Participate:

1. Log in to Twitter

2. Go to Tweetchat.com when you’re ready to join the conversation

3. Enter “PRDiversity” in the search box. This is the hashtag we will be using for every tweet as we celebrate PRSA and PRSSA Diversity Month.

4. The Twitter feed will display all tweets using the registered hashtag (#PRDiversity) and you’ve officially become part of the chat. Enter any tweet you wish to post in the top box. Don’t worry about adding #PRDiversity at the end — Tweetchat does it for you automatically.

If you can’t see the box, but can see the feed, click “sign in” at the top right corner and click “allow” to allow Tweetchat to connect to Twitter. Tweets will take a minute to show up once you click “tweet.”

Let the Fun Begin:

This year’s first Twitter chat is Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 9 p.m. EDT. Using the PRSA and PRSSA Diversity Month theme “Shift: Diversity in Action,” this chat will be hosted by Vice President of Advocacy Victoria Lewis. The importance of diversity and how we can re-define its role within our industry will be discussed during the chat.

The full list of fall 2015 Twitter chats can be found here.
