Not only will you show initiative, but you will have the chance to ask your supervisor for tasks that specifically interest you.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Amy E. Douglas, APR, marketing director for University of Florida Performing Arts, said in an email that the last month of an internship is typically where students learn the most.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u201cBy this point you\u2019ve learned the \u2018ins and outs\u2019 of the organization with whom you\u2019re interning,\u201d she said, \u201cand you should be comfortable with what you\u2019re doing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Here\u2019s how to go about asking for more responsibilities on your last month of internship:<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Make sure you\u2019ve completed, and excelled at, your assigned tasks.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">Before asking your supervisor for more responsibilities, make sure you\u2019ve gone above and beyond in completing your previous tasks. He got the position simply by reaching out to the Lewis Center Business Association to see if they needed any public relations and marketing help with the event and ended up in one of three main leadership roles of the festival, fireworks and concert featuring multi-platinum recording artist, Gavin DeGraw.&#8221;<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">If your department is working on a project you\u2019d like to take part in, your last month of interning is the perfect time to bring that up to your supervisor.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0\u201cBe prepared to explain why you want to work on the project,\u201d Douglas said. \u201cFor example, it will help you fulfill a career goal, or you\u2019ve learned about it in the classroom but want concrete experience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\"><strong>Communicate with your supervisor if you have any questions or concerns.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">While working autonomously on your extra responsibilities is important, don\u2019t be afraid to ask your supervisor any questions that you can\u2019t figure out on your own. It\u2019s also important to let your supervisor know of any unexpected roadblocks.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0\u201cNothing is more disappointing than green-lighting an intern\u2019s project and never seeing it come to fruition,\u201d Douglas said.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0And if your supervisor denies your request for more responsibilities, ask to set up a time for a formal review to discuss areas of improvement.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\">\u00a0A supervisor can deny a request for more responsibilities for a variety of reasons so don\u2019t feel discouraged if he or she doesn\u2019t give you the \u201cOK\u201d right away for more tasks.
