For many people who seek a job in public relations, you go to school, participate in internships and join PRSSA \u2013 but what else can you do? Don\u2019t miss a key step to obtaining that job after graduation: utilizing the relationship between PRSA<\/span><\/a> and PRSSA.<\/strong><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

<\/strong><\/em>
\nOctober is PRSA\/PRSSA Relationship Month and a great time to focus on your Chapter\u2019s relationship with PRSA.<\/p>\n

In November 1967, delegates at the PRSA Assembly in Philadelphia voted unanimously to establish PRSSA. Since then, PRSA and PRSSA Chapters have had a strong relationship. As pre-professionals, we continually strive to engage in learning outside the classroom. Having a strong relationship with PRSA is one of the best benefits offered to students and all members are encouraged to take full advantage of this opportunity.<\/p>\n

A strong relationship with PRSA members\u00a0can lead to internships, jobs and relationships that may be hard to obtain elsewhere. Broadening your network beyond school can help give you that extra edge into the world of public relations.<\/p>\n

This month is a great time for your Chapter to focus on its relationship with your PRSA sponsor Chapter and<\/a> PRSA professionals in your community. To share ideas and best practices, PRSSA will conduct a Twitter chat on October 29 and provide ideas to help strengthen these critical relationships through the PRSA\/PRSSA Relationship Manual<\/a>, posts on Progressions and more.<\/p>\n

We also encourage PRSSA 2012 National Conference attendees to network with the hundreds of professionals and PRSA members that will be next door at the PRSA International Conference. This is a perfect opportunity to build relationships with PRSA members.<\/p>\n

I encourage each Chapter to focus on their relationship with their local PRSA Chapter and PRSA professionals this month. As the vice president of professional development, I am eager to help where I can. Contact me for assistance, tips and tools for building a positive lasting relationship with PRSA.<\/p>\n
