Loved by all ages, Poppi has made a splash with its standout packaging, clothing collaborations and A-list supporters like\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/alix_earle\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alix Earle<\/a>\u202fand\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@drinkpoppi\/video\/7427163732717030702\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Rob Rausch.<\/a>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Originally\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/sharktankrecap.com\/mother-beverage-update-shark-tank-season-10\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Mother Beverage,<\/a>\u202fPoppi is a prebiotic soft drink that allows you to enjoy the traditional soda flavors you know and love, without the \u201cbaggage,\u201d as mentioned in its recent campaign,\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4LDn46rb_gc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cSoda Thoughts.\u201d<\/a>\u202fThe beverage company also has made an effort to position itself as a soda alternative altogether.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poppi\u2019s\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/drinkpoppi\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Instagram<\/a>\u202fboasts nearly 500,000 followers and posts consumer-captured and brand-produced content that aligns with its goals; but Poppi also has taken its advertising and promotion off social media and turned its products into experiences for consumers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the fall of last year, Poppi embarked on a\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/pulse\/poppi-world-tour-campaign-analysis-michael-lamberty-e8epe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">\u201cPoppi World Tour,\u201d<\/a>\u202fvisiting college campuses across the country. The goal of the campaign was to build awareness of new and already loved flavors as well as reinforce loyalty among consumers. Events had\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/drinkpoppi\/p\/DA8rtd2RL9L\/?hl=en&amp;img_index=2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">merchandise,<\/a>\u202ffood and<s>\u202f<\/s>\u200b, \u200b<em>of course<\/em>\u200b<em>,<\/em>\u200b\u202fbeverages where Poppi was the star ingredient. The tour even included some famous faces with appearances by \u201cLove Island\u201d star Rausch and model Emily Ratajkowski.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But some experiences have missed the mark and left a less\u200b-\u200b\u200bthan\u200b-\u200b\u200bsweet impression on audiences. In February 2025, leading up to the Super Bowl, Poppi sent\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.today.com\/food\/trends\/poppi-vending-machine-controversy-rcna191531\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">vending machines,<\/a>\u202ffilled with what looked like a year\u2019s supply of beverages, to 32 influencers and fans in an effort to create buzz for its upcoming Super Bowl ad, including placing a vending machine in a popular college town bar in New Orleans. However, the fizz went flat when consumers went to platforms like TikTok to display their disapproval of the campaign.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThey should\u2019ve [given] those to college dorm rooms, or athletic departments, I\u2019m definitely not buying another one,\u201d\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@jadejarvistv\/video\/7468807066568690990?cid=NzQ2OTA0MTU2MTM4MjgzMDg5NA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrote one TikToker.<\/a><s>\u202f<\/s>\u200b \u200bAnother\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@gachelraede\/video\/7469196001279053099?cid=NzQ2OTM1Njg0NTU1NDEwNzE4Mg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">said<\/a>, \u201cWouldn\u2019t this be great to put in the hospital to share with everybody\u200b,\u200b especially nurses and doctors\u200b?\u200b\u200b\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Poppi\u2019s social team has spoken out to combat claims that the vending machines cost $25,000, \u200bas \u200balleged by Poppi\u2019s competitor,\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/drinkolipop.com\/pages\/affiliate-program?irclickid=UX-T6pSqbxyKTTEy6cxbUy3BUksw%3AL134VF-UU0&amp;utm_source=impact&amp;utm_medium=affiliate&amp;utm_content=Holiday%20Coupon%20-%20Save%2020%25%20at%20DrinkOLIPOP.com%20-%20Code%20YETI20&amp;irgwc=1&amp;gad_source=1&amp;gclid=CjwKCAiAiaC-BhBEEiwAjY99qCXj-9d6zuWSTBks8_6V_XKHOhDlE6k52H3e_b0ka-pyy06y1h4CUBoCVaMQAvD_BwE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">OLIPOP.<\/a>\u202fPoppi founder Allison Ellsworth took to\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@drinkpoppi\/video\/7469953210455756078\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TikTok<\/a>\u202fto address the controversy and said, \u201cThese vending machines will be a part of the brand for years to come, and we want to work with you guys to get them out to the places you\u2019d like to see them out in the world.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the unexpected controversy, Poppi made a splash with advertising spots during\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfl.com\/super-bowl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Super Bowl LIX,<\/a>\u202fwhich continued the brand\u2019s mission of presenting Poppi as a top choice when selecting a beverage, whether a consumer is in a drive-thru, cooling off by the pool\u200b<s>,<\/s>\u200b or enjoying a night with pizza delivery and a drink. Ads also included familiar faces from other Poppi campaigns like Earle, Jake Shane and Rausch (he can\u2019t get enough).&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Although the PR gifts went from sweet to sour, Poppi is still loved by many and has achieved great feats in the DTC beverage industry, reaching over\u202f<a href=\"https:\/\/www.inc.com\/magazine\/202404\/jill-krasny\/how-poppis-allison-ellsworth-other-upstart-brands-break-through-noise.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">$100 million in sales<\/a>\u202fin 2023.
