Attending the \u200bPRSSA 2024 Leadership Assembly in Seattle, Washington was one of the most enriching experiences of my academic and professional life. As an active member of the Universidad de San Mart\u00edn de Porres (USMP) PRSSA Chapter in Lima, Per\u00fa, I had the honor of representing my university and participating in the elections for the 2024\u200b\u2013\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b2025 National Committee. This opportunity not only allowed me to expand my network but also to immerse myself in an international environment of learning and professional growth.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The support I received from the beginning was essential to making this dream a reality. Milagros Orcoyen, the current PRSSA National President and member of the Universidad Argentina de la Empress (UADE) PRSSA Chapter, Joyce Garc\u00eda from Puerto Rico and Celeste D’Andrea from Argentina played a key role in organizing a virtual fundraiser to fund my travels to Assembly. The solidarity among us Latinas was incredible. Many colleagues form different parts of the world, motivated by our case, generously donated to help us reach our financial goal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thanks to this fundraiser, on March 7, I landed in Seattle with the excitement of meeting those who had made my participation possible. When I met Milagros, Joeyce and Celeste, I felt a deep connection\u2014not only as colleagues but as friends who shared the same passion for public relations. These experiences reinforced the value of camaraderie and the power of teamwork in me.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The three days of the event were full of learning. Each session I attended was an opportunity to broaden my knowledge about how public relations influence different societies. I learned about\u200b how\u200b artificial intelligence \u200bapplies\u200b\u200b\u200b to our profession, the importance of leading with purpose\u200b,<\/s>\u200b and how we can empower ourselves as future professionals. The sessions on leadership and how to create meaningful connections were among the most valuable. This knowledge is crucial for any public relations student aspiring to make an impact in their country.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Networking \u200bis\u200b\u200bwas<\/s>\u200b another great advantage of attending\u00a0 <\/s>the Leadership Assembly. I had the opportunity to interact with students from different countries, including the United States, Venezuela, Mexico, Nepal and Argentina\u200b. Even though English is not my native language, I felt comfortable sharing ideas and experiences with my international colleagues. This cultural exchange was one of the most memorable aspects of the event, as it allowed me to understand the diversity of approaches within our profession.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition to the speaker sessions, my participation in the National Committee elections allowed me to be the voice of my Chapter in deciding who would represent us internationally. It was\u200b so amazing \u200b\u200b immensely satisfying <\/s>\u200bto see Milagros Orcoyen elected as PRSSA National President, an achievement that will have a significant impact on our Society. I am confident that her leadership will leave a profound mark at an international level. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, through roundtable discussions and conversations with Chapter leaders, I was able to learn firsthand how public relations is studied at other universities. This was enriching for me as a representative of USMP PRSSA. This type of collaborative learning is invaluable for any student or professional who wants to have a global perspective on the field.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My experience at the Leadership Assembly was a journey full of learning, connections\u200b,<\/s>\u200b and gratitude. Thanks to the support of my colleagues and the opportunity provided by PRSSA, I carry valuable lessons that I apply daily in my professional training. This event not only allowed me to represent my university but also to grow as a person and a professional. Without a doubt, it is an opportunity I recommend to all my PRSSA peers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most important reflections I take away is the impact PRSSA has on the lives of its members. The organization not only fosters academic growth but also creates opportunities to form international bonds and strengthen professional skills. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I also encourage members to take advantage of the scholarships offered by PRSSA National. These not only open doors to new experiences but also promote collaboration among students from around the world, which is essential for our growth as future leaders in public relations.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participar en la Leadership Assembly de PRSSA en Seattle, Washington, en marzo de 2024 fue una de las experiencias m\u00e1s enriquecedoras de mi vida acad\u00e9mica y profesional. Como miembro activo del Cap\u00edtulo de la Universidad de San Mart\u00edn de Porres (USMP) en Lima, Per\u00fa, tuve el honor de representar a mi universidad y participar en las votaciones para el Comit\u00e9 Nacional 2024-2025. Esta oportunidad no solo me permiti\u00f3 ampliar mi red de contactos, sino tambi\u00e9n sumergirme en un ambiente internacional de aprendizaje y crecimiento profesional.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

El apoyo que recib\u00ed desde el inicio fue fundamental para hacer realidad este sue\u00f1o. Milagros Orcoyen, miembro del Comit\u00e9 Nacional de PRSSA y del Cap\u00edtulo en la Universidad Argentina de la Empresa (UADE), jug\u00f3 un papel clave en la organizaci\u00f3n de una campa\u00f1a de recaudaci\u00f3n de fondos junto con Joeyce Garc\u00eda de Puerto Rico y Celeste D\u2019Andrea de Argentina. La solidaridad entre nosotras, como latinas, fue incre\u00edble. Muchos compa\u00f1eros de diferentes partes del mundo, motivados por nuestra causa, donaron generosamente para ayudarnos a alcanzar la meta financiera que nos permitir\u00eda cubrir los gastos del viaje. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Gracias a esta recaudaci\u00f3n, el 7 de marzo aterric\u00e9 en Seattle con la emoci\u00f3n de conocer a quienes hab\u00edan hecho posible mi participaci\u00f3n. Al reunirme con Milagros, Joeyce y Celeste, sent\u00ed una profunda conexi\u00f3n, no solo como colegas, sino como amigas que compart\u00edan la misma pasi\u00f3n por las relaciones p\u00fablicas. Estas vivencias reforzaron en m\u00ed el valor del compa\u00f1erismo y el poder del trabajo en equipo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Los tres d\u00edas que dur\u00f3 el evento estuvieron llenos de aprendizajes. Cada ponencia a la que asist\u00ed fue una oportunidad para ampliar mis conocimientos sobre c\u00f3mo las relaciones p\u00fablicas influyen en distintas sociedades. Aprend\u00ed sobre la inteligencia artificial aplicada a nuestra profesi\u00f3n, la importancia de liderar con prop\u00f3sito, y c\u00f3mo podemos empoderarnos como futuros profesionales. Las sesiones sobre liderazgo y c\u00f3mo generar conexiones significativas fueron de las m\u00e1s valiosas. Este conocimiento es crucial para cualquier estudiante de relaciones p\u00fablicas que aspire a dejar una huella en su pa\u00eds. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

El networking fue otra de las grandes ventajas de la Leadership Assembly. Pude interactuar con estudiantes de distintos pa\u00edses, incluyendo Estados Unidos, Venezuela, M\u00e9xico, Nepal, Argentina y Puerto Rico. A pesar de que el ingl\u00e9s no es mi lengua materna, me sent\u00ed c\u00f3moda al compartir ideas y experiencias con mis colegas internacionales. Este intercambio cultural fue uno de los aspectos m\u00e1s memorables del evento, ya que me permiti\u00f3 comprender la diversidad de enfoques dentro de nuestra carrera. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s de las charlas, mi participaci\u00f3n en las votaciones del Comit\u00e9 Nacional me permiti\u00f3 ser la voz de mi Cap\u00edtulo en la decisi\u00f3n de qui\u00e9nes ser\u00edan nuestros representantes a nivel internacional. Dando como resultado, la inmensa satisfacci\u00f3n de ver a Milagros Orcoyen elegida como Presidenta de PRSSA National, un logro que tendr\u00e1 un impacto significativo en nuestra Sociedad. Estoy segura de que su liderazgo dejar\u00e1 una huella profunda a nivel internacional. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asimismo, a trav\u00e9s de las mesas redondas y conversaciones entre l\u00edderes de los Cap\u00edtulos, pude aprender de primera mano c\u00f3mo llevan a cabo las relaciones p\u00fablicas en otras universidades, siendo algo enriquecedor como representante de USMP PRSSA. Este tipo de aprendizaje colaborativo es invaluable para cualquier estudiante o profesional que quiera tener una perspectiva global de la carrera. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mi experiencia en la Leadership Assembly fue un viaje lleno de aprendizajes, conexiones y gratitud. Gracias al apoyo de mis colegas y la oportunidad brindada por PRSSA, me llevo lecciones valiosas que aplico diariamente en mi formaci\u00f3n profesional. Este evento no solo me permiti\u00f3 representar a mi universidad, sino tambi\u00e9n crecer como persona y como profesional. Sin duda, es una oportunidad que recomiendo a todos mis compa\u00f1eros de PRSSA.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Una de las reflexiones m\u00e1s importantes que me llevo es el impacto que tiene PRSSA en la vida de sus miembros. La organizaci\u00f3n no solo fomenta el crecimiento acad\u00e9mico, sino que tambi\u00e9n crea oportunidades para formar lazos internacionales y fortalecer habilidades profesionales.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Asimismo, animo a los miembros a aprovechar las becas que ofrece PRSSA National. No solo abren puertas a nuevas experiencias, sino que tambi\u00e9n promueven la colaboraci\u00f3n entre estudiantes de todo el mundo, lo cual es esencial para nuestro crecimiento como futuros l\u00edderes de las relaciones p\u00fablicas.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n
