LinkedIn is a very valuable platform for students. It offers networking opportunities, the ability to build a personal brand, aiding in the job search and so much more!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It may seem like a platform that is made for established professionals, but there is so much to gain from utilizing LinkedIn as a student. Even though it might seem daunting, as a student you have the opportunity to reach out to professionals that are actually willing to help you. You are the future of the industry, so take advantage of everything LinkedIn has to offer!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Practice Networking with Professionals<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

LinkedIn is the perfect place to practice networking. Since it\u2019s a virtual platform, there is an extra level of comfort for a student reaching out. No awkward face-to-face interactions, no stuttering in the moment, no being unsure what to say and no stress!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If there is a professional that piques your interest, send a note and introduce yourself! Ask them about their background, and start a conversation. Get used to putting on your \u2018professional persona.\u2019 Maybe they will even take an interest in you and you\u2019ve just sparked a professional connection! LinkedIn is a great place to start working those professional muscles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learn What’s Going On In The Industry<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Another great use of LinkedIn is seeing how modern-day trends translate professionally. There are lots of great pop culture moments on social media that brands could utilize while still staying true to themselves. There are many digital freelancers who post mock campaigns and roundups of brands utilizing trends.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finding these creators is an amazing way to see how trends impact businesses and the thought process behind what trends to use. This also helps give insight into the process of building a campaign. This can spark your own creative endeavors as you journey further into the work of freelancers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Which leads me to my final point…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Learn to Celebrate Your Personal Achievements and Endeavors<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you think you have nothing valuable to post about, I guarantee that you are wrong! No achievement is too small.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are a few examples: post about honors you\u2019ve received. Attended or hosted a successful event at school? Tell your network. Worked on a case study or took part in a competition? Whether you won or lost you can still share valuable lessons you learned. As a member of PRSSA, take advantage of the events you host and\/or attend.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you grow your network, they will celebrate and acknowledge these achievements and milestones with you. This includes any personal endeavors\u2014if you have a blog, podcast or consider yourself a content creator, show it off. Showcase your creativity!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LinkedIn can be a scary place, but once you get familiar with how it works it becomes a breeze. Grow your network and happy posting!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Si hay un profesional que despierta tu inter\u00e9s, \u00a1env\u00edale una nota y pres\u00e9ntate! Preg\u00fantale sobre su experiencia y empieza una conversaci\u00f3n. Acost\u00fambrate a ponerte en esa “actitud profesional”; puede que incluso se interese en ti, \u00a1y acabas de iniciar una conexi\u00f3n profesional! LinkedIn es un gran lugar para empezar a ejercitar esos m\u00fasculos profesionales.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
