\"\"<\/a>\u201cIf you always do\u00a0what\u00a0you’ve always done,\u00a0you will always get\u00a0what\u00a0you’ve always got.\u201d Have you ever heard this quote? The main purpose of this expression is to point out the fact that\u00a0if you want to change the final result, you need to change the way you do things. In a globalized, well-connected world, we are always surrounded by different ways of thinking and a highly competitive market \u2014 the communications market in this case. So, how do you adapt yourself to those aspects? How do you make the difference to get better results?<\/p>\n

Creativity and open-minded thinking are important factors that can change your results. Fortunately, one thing leads to the other one. Those who have the best ideas are the ones who have a willingness to listen to or accept different opinions and this is what distinguishes them from their peers.<\/p>\n

Anytime and anywhere, people from different places, backgrounds and cultures could be under the same roof. However, we are aware that this doesn\u2019t necessarily mean we all know or understand either what we say or how we act. We are all different and these differences often lead to us interpreting messages or reacting differently.<\/p>\n

What is the key to understanding this difference? First, you should listen. Then, treat other people\u2019s opinions as if they were yours and in this way, the ideas can coexist in a healthy manner. I dig deeper into this in my previous article: \u201cThe Importance of Respect<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n

Working with diverse people gives us incredible opportunities and opens our minds to new perspectives. It even may give us new solutions to conflicts. I will give you a quick example, during the PRSSA 2019 International Conference, the Argentina and Peruvian Chapters \u2013 PRSSA UADE<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0PRSSA USMP<\/a>\u00a0\u2013 hosted their first Chapter Development Session together. I was one of the facilitators! It took more than two months of preparation and coordination to put together a well-received presentation. Long Skype calls talking about different ideas and sharing knowledge was the key to figure out what we wanted to present. We connected with a lot of people at the Conference and even made new friends. It is important that we did something different and worked together to accomplish it.<\/p>\n

To sum up, if you want to make a difference and get better results while at college, at work or even at home, you should consider listening to new things and connecting to new and diverse people. Moving outside your comfort zone and becoming close to diverse people will give you the chance to improve yourself.<\/p>\n
